Animals Defense Mechanisms

 Stay Away From Me

The Iberian newt   Spanish ribbed newt | amphibian | Britannica

The Iberian ribbed newt has tubercles running down each side. Through these, its sharp ribs can puncture. The ribs act as a defense mechanism, causing little harm to the newt. This mechanism could be considered as a primitive and rudimentary system of envenomation, but is completely harmless to humans.

My summary:

Firstly, the Iberian ribbed newt has tubercles on each of its sides. Next, it can puncture its sharp ribs through these tubercles. Lastly, this process is not very dangerous for the newt.

  1. Great work Sam. Great sentence structure and use of commas and other punctuation such as capitals and full stops. This has a great readable font and can you try to place your photo of the newt, so it is like your examples on the original sheet. Can you work out what one of the Fab Four this learning exercise has helped you understand? Predict, clarify, question or summarise?
